Effects of the Second Great War

The Treaty of Versailles (1919), that was the treaty or agreement that ended WW1, intended to ensure peace; instead it became the opposite by leaving a legacy of bitterness and hatred in the hearts of the German people. The economic conditions of the 1920s and 1930s and the rise of totalitarian regimes in Germany, Italy, and Japan also played a significant role. Adolf Hitler's rise to power in Germany in 1933, followed by his aggressive expansionist policies, the annexation of Austria, and the invasion of Czechoslovakia, were direct precursors to the war. Aswell it is important to keep in mind that the event that marked the “beginning” of WW2 was on September 1, 1939, with the German invasion of Poland, prompting Britain and France to declare war on Germany.
